Program Structure

In the first year of the Fellowship Program the student is required to complete 40 course credits. The academic year in NITIE is divided into modules, of 3 months each. All course work requirements have to complete within 2 years from the date of admission.

Credit Course Requirement:

A Research Scholar should undergo 4 courses in the first module, during second module; he/she should undergo two stream-specific courses and give one credit seminar. In the third module, the candidate should give two credit seminars and write a review paper on the literature related to his/her research topic for publication purpose. Thus a candidate should earn 16 credits in the first module and 12 credits in each of the subsequent two modules together adding up to 40 credits in all (see table below).

Details of Courses and Seminars:

The stream specific courses and seminars will be decided as recommended by the Research Committee on recommendation by the candidate's Guide and the Advisory Committee.
Apart from the above courses the student can also take Audit courses along with Post Graduate students. Audit courses don’t count towards credit requirements.


Duration for earning Credit:

All the credits specified should be earned within a maximum of two years from the date of admission to the programme. Extension after the two years may be recommended by Research Committee for a period of one year with a review of progress every six months. Final approval will be given by the Chairman, Academic Council.
