NITIE LIBRARY

National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) Library was established in 1965. The NITIE Library holds one of the richest collections of Technical Books, Journals,  Online Journals and Electronic databases in the field of Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Organizational Behaviour, Financial Management, Training & Information Technology. It has an excellent collection of reference books, like Subject: Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Handbooks and Workbooks. Efforts are made to purchase national and international conference proceedings in the field of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. As the Institute has its own residential campus, library also caters to the information needs of our staff, officers, and their children.

We subscribe to nearly 237 Foreign & Indian Technical Journals including 14 semi-technical and 18 recreational Magazines.Out of these we subscribe to 65 Technical Journals online and 56 Technical Journals Print+Online. We have a rich coverage of newspapers; along with English we  include regional languages newspapers such as Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil & Telegu.

Our Library along with all the IIT’s, IIM’s and NIT’s is a core member of INDEST Consortium, a initiative of MHRD.

The Library provides the above resources on its campus wide network including our Library catalogue OPAC is also provided 24 X 7. The Library uses the LIBSYS software package for library management for all its modules namely Acquisition, Circulation, Catalogue, Reference Query etc.

Electronic Databases purchased are put together under a single URL http://www.knimbus.com, which is our metasearch service. We also have CD server which has mirrored more than 800 CD's available electronically campus wide.

The Library offers Membership to the Institute's Corporate Clients and Industrial Consultants. The students from other Institute/Colleges are welcomed for the reference on weekly or daily membership. Inter Library Loan facility and Xerox facility is available to all the library user community.

The Library is managed by a team of 5 professionals, 6 semi professional and 2 administrative staff. They collectively handle the important library activities like Collection Development, Collection Maintenance, Circulation, Reference and Information Service.

We operate Library from 9.00 am to 10pm from Monday-Friday. On weekend the timings are from 11am to 7pm. Library is open throughout the year except on Institute Holiday.

The important library activities are Collection Development, Collection Maintenance, Circulation, Reference and Information Service. The Library Committee constituted help in all purchase function of the Library.

Currently we operate from an area of about 4500 sq ft. Future plans of the Library is to move to new premises soon.
